Knowledge of first aid is still relatively uncommon amongst the population. The transportation of acutely ill and injured persons to the nearest hospital occurs mostly with run-down ambulances. Many patients don’t survive this transport or end up suffering additional damage, before they have even received the necessary assistance.
A helicopter rescue service hasn’t been installed yet. Consequently, it would be very valuable, if laymen in the villages understood first aid basics. Since October of 2015, a fire commander from Cahul is training locals in this exact field. This training also takes place in public schools.
